Biography
DeWolf is a Rotterdam-based blues band that channels the soulful heritage of American blues while infusing it with a distinctly Dutch sensibility. Formed by siblings Jasper and Eva DeWolf, and joined by guitarist Leo Van Dijk and bassist Thijs Groen, the band’s sound is a testament to the timeless appeal of the blues.
Their journey began in the DeWolf family garage, where Jasper and Eva would spend hours exploring their father’s extensive collection of American blues records. As they grew older, Jasper’s haunting voice and evocative harmonica playing paired perfectly with Eva’s unconventional drumming style. When they met Leo and Thijs, the missing pieces fell into place, and DeWolf was born.
DeWolf’s music is a captivating blend of raw emotion, intricate musicianship, and modern storytelling. Their lyrics often explore universal themes of love, loss, and the search for identity, making them resonate with audiences far beyond the blues genre. With their debut album and the critically acclaimed single “Afgekickt,” DeWolf has established themselves as one of the most compelling voices in the European blues scene.
Their live performances are known for their energy and spontaneity, drawing from the improvisational spirit of their blues heroes while adding their own unique twist. With each song, DeWolf breathes new life into the blues, honoring the genre’s history while pushing it into new, exciting directions. As they continue to build on their father’s legacy, DeWolf remains committed to keeping the blues alive in Rotterdam and beyond, proving that this genre knows no borders and speaks to the soul of anyone willing to listen.
